YPTP JUNIOR TROUPE AGES 5-13
Junior Acting Troupe (Ages 5-13) (Two Weeks)
The Junior Acting Troupe guides actors 5-13 through the
process of auditioning for, rehearsing, and performing a
show. With escalating responsibilities and expectations,
this troupe is a great place for both brand new and
experienced performers! During Campers Take Control
weeks, the Junior Troupe will work in teams to write,
cast, design, and perform their very own show. Three
performances are listed below.
YPTP - Trouble in Paradise Junction: Weeks 1-2
In this love letter to small town life, Paradise Junction is
the “best little town in the world, a place where everyone
gets along, the sun is always shining, and the tomatoes
grow as big as beach balls. So when a TV network oers
to lm a reality show there, the townsfolk jump at the
chance. After all, the town will receive ve million dollars,
while the publicity promises to turn the residents into TV
stars. But host Wink Smiley has his own agenda. Secrets
are revealed, old feuds are rekindled, and the towns
annual pie-baking contest is turned into a massive food
ght. Now it’s up to Joe Goode, owner of the Rise ’n’ Shine
Diner, to save the town. Will he nd a way to stop Wink or
will the residents be tricked into destroying their beloved
town on live television? Note: There will be a performance
on Friday, July 3rd at 6pm. $375

YPTP - An Act of Piracy: Weeks 5-6
Arrr! Lord Cranbury’s traveling company of scallywag
actors just can’t seem to get their big break! Could it be
because some of them don’t bother to learn their lines? Or
suer from terrible stage fright? Certainly, its not because
demanding diva Vivian Thatcher keeps changing the play
to suit her mood, is it? Note: There will be a performance
on Friday, July 31st at 6pm. $375
7/20-7/31 9am-3:30pm Elkton Station Ages 5-13
CECIL COLLEGE: YOUNG PEOPLE’S THEATRE PROGRAM
YPTP - The Walking Dwarves: Weeks 8-9
What could be more fun for all ages than a zombie
fractured fairy tale?! Thanks to some prompting from a
conniving Magic Mirror, the vain queen poisons apples
with a special ingredient” (that just happens to be
plutonium), leading to a kingdom-wide plague of zombie
dwarves! Snow White and the Huntsman narrowly
escape the dwarves, making Cinderellas stepmother and
stepsisters the rst zombie fodder, blindsided as theyre
dress shopping for the big ball. And Little Red Riding
Hood never reaches Grannys house, instead falling victim,
too! Its no surprise when the Three Little Pigs, who can’t
even protect themselves from Big Bad Wolf, become
meaty breakfast treats for the swarm of hungry undead.
Even Cinderellas cheery animal friends (portrayed with
puppets) can’t escape! As the zombie horde grows, the
kingdom’s dwindling band of survivors — including Old
MacDonald, Candy Witch, Hansel, and Gretel — convene
at the castle. The queen realizes with horror what she has
done, but she still wants the royal ball to continue so she
can win the heart of the hunky Prince Brawny. Will there be
a happily ever after in this fairy tale? Note: There will be a
performance on Friday, August 21st at 6pm. $375
8/10-8/21 9am-3:30pm Elkton Station Ages 5-13

like Production Interns, are expected to assist with day to
day life around camp by taking on leadership roles and
serving as role models for Junior Acting Troupe members.
Two productions are listed below.
YPTP – Backstage: Weeks 4-5
We all know that the real drama in a theatre takes place
backstage and creates quite a comedy to watch! This
has never been more true than at Theatre Baroque,
where the star, one-time matinee idol Burton Cavendish,
suddenly dies an hour before the premiere of “Don Juan in
Cleveland. Once it is discovered that Cavendish has passed
away, Lou, the director, calls on Ajax, the understudy, to
ll in. But Ajax must play Cavendish both on and o stage,
and he can’t tell anyone — not even his own mother! It is
to be the great stars last performance... and Ajaxs greatest
performance ever. He reluctantly agrees, only to face nasty
critics, doting mothers and one very large goon sent to
collect a bundle from the great actor. Ajax even has to fool
his own mother, who shows up backstage to say hello to
Ajax and meet the famous Cavendish! (Little does she know
she achieves both of those goals at one time!) Lines and
plot twists y quickly in this theatrical farce where over-
the-hill prima donnas reign — or think they do — and most
of the rest of the cast is betting on who comes out on top.
Note: There will be a performance on Friday, July 24th, at
6pm. $375
7/13-7/24 9am-3:30pm Elkton Station Ages 13-17
YPTP - Archie and the Wallower: Weeks 7-8
This clever comedy gets two green thumbs up! The New
Leaf Greenhouse is facing foreclosure, but owner Filmore
Potts and his employees are busy with other matters —
from hosting a garden party for the uppity Buttery Club
to dealing with an explosive experiment concocted by
Nate, the resident scientist. To make the day even more
volatile, Ivy has concocted a love potion to win over
Pete, who barely notices her. Wouldn’t you know? The
pitcher containing the secret love tonic looks just like
Nates new plant-growth formula as well as the Buttery
Clubs lemonade, resulting in a jumble of unrequited love
triangles, unnatural vegetation and one disastrous garden
party! Ivy is green with envy when Pete instantly falls for
Polly, the wallower who only talks to the plants, while the
nerdy Nate drank the wrong lemonade and now won’t let
Ivy be. In the midst of the chaos, Archie — a talking ower
played by a puppeteer — is “born. Archie and Polly become
fast friends, and Archie gets a chance to teach her how to
open up and “blossom” to help her express her feelings
for Nate. There’s an unexpected twist waiting behind
every corner in this unique comedy that adds depth to
its slapstick humor with a touch of genuine pathos, some
witty wordplay, and a lot of heart. Note: There will be a
performance on Friday, August 14th, at 6pm. $375
8/3-8/14 9am-3:30pm Elkton Station Ages 13-17
YPTP - Technical Internship
Interns in the technical internship will join the production
sta halfway through the current Junior Acting Troupe
production. This is a great option for Senior Acting Troupe
participants who want to get in on the technical side of
theater as well! Interns in the technical internship will
jump into the production process by supporting designers
and taking on roles as board ops, prompts, back stage
managers, and more. $125
