I think eyeshadow sticks are an awesome idea! You can check out my thoughts about eyeshadow sticks in general or stay here to see what I think about the Clinique Chubby Sticks.
Why I Have It and Like It
I don’t remember how I came across this product exactly but my guess is that I wanted the Clinique makeup bag with samples that is free with a minimum purchase so I decided to try a new product just to get the extra bag lol Probably not the greatest spending habit… Anyway…lol… It was my first time using an eyeshadow stick and I just fell in love with that type of product and the specific color I was using so I have kept going back but this is not a perfect product. Here is the good and the bad:
– — PROS — –
Long-Lasting > I love the finish of this product! It goes on just barely creamy but is more of a powdery finish once it is on. There is absolutely no creasing and the powdery finish makes it stay put all day long! No smudging.
Large Tip > The end is quite large which makes it apply really quickly.
Neutral Color > I just love the soft, light, neutral, peachy shade called Bountiful Beige. It is easy to apply and the shade works well for me which is probably the main reason I haven’t branched out more.
Easy to Use > Very simple to apply and does not need to be sharpened (it is twistable) but those things are true for most eyeshadow sticks.
Works As Advertised > On the Clinique website, the Chubby Sticks are advertised as a “sheer wash of lightweight, creamy colour” and “layerable.” They were not made to be opaque but you can layer the product.
– — CONS — –
Price > At $18.50 it is on the more expensive end for eyeshadow sticks.
Uneven Finish > On the first swipe of product, it does not always go on evenly. It can look a bit streaky until you go over your eyelid a few times.
Needs More Pigment > I would prefer it to be less sheer so I could use less product, save time, and save money.
Can Break/Crumble > Most of my sticks have held up JUST FINE, but I have to admit that once my stick broke and just recently my super old one has started to chip (probably because it is dry/expired).
Would I Recommend This Product?
Although I use this product regularly and have repurchased it, I can’t confidently recommend this product. Mostly because I only love one of the colors and because I feel like there is a similar but cheaper option out there. I will keep my eyes out!
If you have an eyeshadow stick you love, let me know in the comments!
